Preoperative Factors for Prediction of EGFR Mutation Status of Lung Cancer

چکیده
Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation status of lung cancer is important because it indicates induction of EGFR-TKI (tyrosine kinase inhibitor) treatment. EGFR mutation has been reported to be strongly related with never-smoker, female, adenocarcinoma and Asians (Lynch et al., 2004; Paez et al., 2004; Pao et al., 2004). There is a striking difference in the frequency of EGFR mutations between Japanese and US patients (32% vs 3-9%) (Hsieh et al., 2005). If EGFR mutation status of lung cancer can be identified without molecular examination of EGFR mutation, it would be very useful for the treatment of lung cancer. Adenocarcinomas with a bronchiolo-alveolar carcinoma (BAC) component are known to be significantly correlated with EGFR mutations (Lynch et al., 2004; Pao et al., 2004; Tam et al., 2006, Sun et al., 2012). The BAC component is likely to have

Assessment of epidermal growth factor receptor status in glioblastomas
Objective(s): Our previous study showed that a newly designed tracer radioiodinated 6-(3-morpholinopropoxy)-7-ethoxy-4-(3'-iodophenoxy)quinazoline ([125I]PYK) is promising for the evaluation of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) status and prediction of gefitinib treatment of non-small cell lung cancer. EGFR is over-expressed and mutated also in glioblastoma. In the present study, the ...
متن کاملEpidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) Gene Mutation Analysis in Adenocarcinoma of Lung, the First Report from Iran
Background and Objective: Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) gene mutation, especially in exons 18 to 21, is an important predictor of the response rate of lung adenocarcinoma to tyrosine kinase inhibitors. There are variable reports from Asian and European countries, as well as North America, about the frequency of the EGFR mutation in lung adenocarcinoma, yet molecular s...
متن کاملPredictive and prognostic value of preoperative serum tumor markers is EGFR mutation-specific in resectable non-small-cell lung cancer
BACKGROUND The predictive and prognostic value of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), cytokeratin-19 fragments (Cyfra21-1), squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCCA) and neuron-specific enolase (NSE) has been investigated in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients. However, few studies have directly focused on the association between these markers and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutati...
متن کاملExpression of Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor and the association with Demographic and Prognostic Factors in Patients with Non-small Cell Lung Cancer
Introduction: Growth, proliferation, survival, and differentiation are the prominent characteristics of cells, which are affected by cancer. Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) plays a pivotal role in the effective control of these features. Given the significance of EGFR signaling pathway in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), EGFR expression is influential on these cell characteristics. I...
متن کاملNomogram Predicting Clinical Outcomes in Non-small Cell Lung Cancer Patients Treated with Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors
PURPOSE The aim of this study was to develop a pragmatic nomogram for prediction of progressionfree survival (PFS) for the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) in EGFR mutant non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 306 recurred or metastatic NSCLC patients with EGFR mutation, who received EGFR TKIs, were enrolled in this study. W...
